Message of
Peace Marriage Workshops
Do you have problems in your marriage?
Do you feel like you are drifting apart from your
wife or husband? Are your times together mostly
heavy and draining? Do you feel like you don’t
understand what is going on in your spouse’s
mind? Or are things going well in your relationship
and you just want to make them GREAT?
|
|
If you answered yes to any of these questions we are
here to help you. We’ll be holding marriage workshops
one Friday night per month at Message of Peace International
Church and want to invite you to come out and join us.
So just plan to have a nice evening out with
your better half, make the proper arrangements at work
or wherever, and come. We’ll even feed you
and provide child care to make sure you can make it.
The question is: what are your priorities? How
important is your relationship with the person with
whom you chose to spend the rest of your life.
If it is important, mark these Friday nights off in
your calendar and make them a priority. They will be
fun and the payoffs will be enormous in the increase
of your quality of life.
Who will benefit from these seminars?
- Couples who have been married for some time and
have found some areas of living with someone tough
to deal with.
- Couples who have been living together, even without
being married, and want to grow in their relationship.
- Couples who are engaged, or have recently been
married, and see the need to base their relationship
on solid ground; who want to prepare for a good future
together.
- Couples who are having a very hard time in their
relationship and don’t know where to go or what
to do.
Who will be conducting the workshops?
Dr. Heather Kelly is a licensed Psychologist
in the State of California, holds a B.A. in Psychology
from Bethany College; and an M.A. in Theology, an M.A.
in Clinical Psychology, and a doctorate in Clinical
Psychology (Psy.D.) from Fuller Theological Seminary.
She has been an assistant professor of Psychology at
Bethany since 1999 and has a private practice, providing
services in Christian counseling, family therapy, psychological
testing, support groups, consultation to church staff,
and local community referrals.
In addition she is married to Dr. Brian Kelly who is
also a professor of Practical Theology at Bethany College,
and they have two children, Maggie and Maguire.
Fernando
Carvalho graduated from Melodyland School of
Theology in Anahein, California with a Diploma Christian
Studies. Later he received his B.S. in Psychology from
Bethany College in Santa Cruz, California and a M.A.
in Counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg,
Virginia. He is also presently enrolled in further graduate
studies at Fuller Theological Seminary.
Fernando has a vast experience in pastoral counseling.
He has been helping individuals and families through
life problems and crises through the unique perspective
of the pastoral counselor – utilizing psychological
tools gained from his training, but focusing on the
spiritual aspect of the person. In addition he is married
to Teresa, a child educator and full partner with him
in ministry, and they have two (not so small) children:
Philipe and Rachel (or Gaby, to her friends).
In addition to these two exceptional speakers, we will
at time have guests, who will always be trained and
experienced psychologists, family therapists, and Christian
counselors.

We will cover what are called The Four Pillars of marriage.

Will childcare be provided?
YES. We will provide child care for
children of any age, provided you register so that we
can make the proper arrangements. If you feel more comfortable
making your own arrangements for child care, we encourage
you to do so. But we want you to know that our staff
is well trained and very caring, so that you can feel
good about bringing the kids with you!
Will food be provided?
YES. Your evening out will start with
a light dinner, made up of a freshly tossed salad (for
the calorie conscious); a main course (for the not so
calorie conscious) which might be sandwiches, burgers,
wraps, quesadillas, etc… always with a vegetarian
option; fresh juice; and Brazilian style French Roast
coffee to perk you up.
This is great, but what does it all cost?
The cost is $30 per couple (that is only $15 per person!)
for each workshop. But we want no person to not come
for lack of finances. If you cannot afford the registration
cost, just check the “special circumstances”
box in the registration form! That is it, no questions
asked.
Do I have to register?
YES. Registration is required (so
that we can properly prepare childcare and food services).
But we will have last minute registration at the time
of the event for you latecomers!
